Live in Fragments No Longer

The lovely Christian Marie Herron gave me a nudge yesterday. It’s true, I’ve been traveling–vacation on the east coast, and then an unexpected dart back east to visit a beloved relative who had suddenly become very ill. Project Introvert OUT was on hold.

Tonight I attempted to dust off the notebook and hit up a local restaurant bar, but wouldn’t you know it, the chosen restaurant was packed. Instead of scuttling out of the door, though, I spoke with an acquaintance I hadn’t seen in quite awhile–so chalk one up for connection and openness. (This is truly my goal with this whole endeavor–to practice these things until, in all my introverted glory, I have mastered these arts.)

There have been plenty of opportunities for me to practice openness and connection these past few weeks. The most notable success was attending an art gallery opening alone and staying nearly two hours, talking with friends, acquaintances and new people. I hardly recognized myself, and what’s more, I had a great time.

“Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted, and human love will be seen at its highest. Live in fragments no longer”

–E.M. Forster

This is at the heart of my project–to love and live as fully as I can.
